On 24th of February 2024, it was two years since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, triggering the largest and fastest refugee crisis since World War II.
Grupo VAPF, as a collaborating partner of the Spanish Committee of UNHCR, has made a financial contribution to help UNHCR provide humanitarian aid to the millions of refugees and displaced persons who have been forced to escape as a result of the war.
It is estimated that with our donation we will be able to improve the daily lives of about 100 families in Ukraine.
More than 9.5 million people remain displaced from their homes, around 80 per cent of them women and children, and an estimated 14.6 million Ukrainians are expected to need humanitarian assistance during 2024.
UNHCR has been working since the beginning of the crisis with the authorities, UN agencies and IDP community groups to provide desperately needed humanitarian assistance to those affected by the war, working both on the ground in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries and elsewhere to provide aid, protection, shelter and assistance to people forced to leave.
