On the morning of Monday 6th of February, a devastating earthquake shook the south-eastern Turkey and northern Syria.

From VAPF Group we have made a donation to the Spanish UNICEF Emergency Fund to help children and families affected by the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.

Many homes have been destroyed, as well as schools, hospitals and other medical and educational facilities that have also been affected and they are the fundamental pillars of life and education of nearly 4 million children, including more than 350.000 refugees and migrants.

UNICEF staff have been mobilised to the affected areas to attend to the most pressing needs:

  • Restore drinking water and sanitation services

  • Offer protection against the weather conditions and protection kits for the low temperatures.

  • Reunite families, identifying separated family members and creating protected areas for children and teenagers whose family members have lost their lives.

  • Provide urgent psychosocial and pedagogical support, establishing normal conditions, as well as spaces for interaction through play, and starting school as soon as possible.

A third of those affected by the devastating earthquakes in south-eastern Syria and Turkey are children and teenagers, whose future at this time depends greatly on the amount of humanitarian assistance we can provide them.
